More than ever, workforces are struggling to recruit top talent and to retain it. At the same time, current common employment practices prevent many neurodivergent people, despite their proven ability, entry to the job market. Even if the neurodiverse can find employment, they often may struggle within the job as they are afraid of disclosing their learning difference and therefore do not get to the individual support they require.
For our economy to move forward, we need our top companies to have access to a wider application pool and to know how to provide necessary resources to unleash the power of a neurodiverse mind.
We collaborated with Ford to use neurodiversity and our knowledge of learning differences as a solution to three barriers they were facing:
Neurodiverse-Friendly Recruitment and Onboarding Processes:
Something as simple as the background colour of the webpage can make it extremely difficult for a dyslexic or neurodivergent person to apply for a job. We gave high-level feedback and recommendations of Ford’s online systems as well as their assessment centres to ensure they are optimally accessible to dyslexic candidates moving forward.
Access to Neurodiverse Candidate Pool:
We exist to match qualified neurodiverse job-seekers with inclusive companies. Part of our services to Trust Ford include recruiting on their behalf from our massive qualified, pre-screened neurodiverse pool of candidates.
Resources and Ongoing Support for Current Trust Ford Staff:
As an ongoing partner with Trust Ford, we continue to provide in-work support for their neurodiverse staff. We also regularly provide training and resources on neurodiversity to their entire staff.
Though we are still in the process of rolling out our implementation plan with Trust Ford, we are already seeing some amazing results.
Since Trust Ford has begun their membership with Exceptional Individuals, their updated recruiting methods are attracting more neurodiverse applicants than ever while maintaining what the organisation values in a potential employee.
Trust Ford is making incredible strides towards becoming a fully inclusive employer, and we are so excited to continue through this process alongside them.
