Depression Test
This is not a medical test
Exceptional Individuals does not provide diagnosis, screening, or clinical assessment for depression.
This page exists to explain what people usually mean when they search for a “depression test”, and to help you find appropriate medical support and workplace-focused help if low mood or emotional distress is affecting your life or work.
Why people search for a depression test
People usually look for a “depression test” because something feels wrong and they want reassurance, clarity, or next steps.
Online quizzes cannot safely determine:
-
whether you have depression
-
how severe something is
-
what support you need
Depression is a medical condition. It is assessed by trained healthcare professionals using clinical interviews and diagnostic frameworks.
What this page can do is:
-
help you understand the difference between medical support and workplace support
-
show you where to get proper clinical help
-
explain how Exceptional Individuals can support you at work

Medical support vs workplace support
Depression is treated by medical and mental health professionals.
Exceptional Individuals provides workplace and employment-focused support for people whose mental health affects how they work.
We do not provide:
-
diagnosis
-
therapy
-
medication
-
crisis intervention
We do provide:
-
workplace needs assessments
-
coaching
-
mentoring
-
employer support and adjustments
-
practical help to stay in or return to work
These two types of support work best together.
When to seek medical help
If you are experiencing persistent low mood, distress, or thoughts about harming yourself, you should speak to a qualified healthcare professional.
A GP, psychiatrist, psychologist or mental health service can:
-
assess what is happening
-
diagnose if appropriate
-
offer treatment, therapy, or medication
-
help you stay safe
You do not need to go through this alone.
How Exceptional Individuals can support you at work
Many people with depression continue to work, but may struggle with:
-
energy, concentration, or motivation
-
communication and confidence
-
workload, deadlines, or pressure
-
returning to work after time off
Exceptional Individuals helps with the workplace side of this.
We support individuals through:
Find the right support If you searched for a “depression test”, it is usually because something is not feeling right and you are trying to work out what kind of help you need. This tool is not a medical assessment. It is designed to help you find the right type of support based on what you are dealing with.

Case study: workplace support alongside depression and neurodiversity
Alex worked in a marketing role at a large organisation.
Alex is also neurodivergent and processes information, pressure and communication differently from many of their colleagues.
After a period of low mood and emotional burnout, Alex was signed off by their GP and later began medical treatment for depression.
When Alex returned to work, they found:
-
their confidence was low
-
concentration was difficult
-
deadlines felt overwhelming
-
communication with their manager was strained
-
their neurodivergent working style was not well understood
Next steps
Alex was referred to Exceptional Individuals for workplace and neurodiversity-informed support, alongside their NHS care.
We helped by:
-
identifying reasonable adjustments that supported both mental health and neurodivergent needs
-
introducing clearer structure and workload planning
-
supporting conversations with their employer about communication and expectations
-
providing coaching focused on confidence, self-advocacy and sustainable working
Alex continued to receive medical care separately, while workplace and neurodiversity-informed support helped them rebuild stability, performance and confidence at work.
This combined approach allowed Alex to stay in employment while managing both their mental health and neurodivergent needs.
