What is The Disability Confident Scheme?

The Disability Confident Employer Scheme is an accreditation for firms hiring individuals with disabilities, it supports employers to make the most of the unique skills and talents that disabled people can bring to a workplace.

At Exceptional Individuals, we help support our partners, from applying to the scheme, to achieving the highest Disability Confident accreditation.

Do I qualify for the Disability Confident Scheme?

Eligibility for the UK's Disability Confident Scheme is open to employers of all sizes and sectors who are committed to hiring, retaining and supporting disabled employees.

Individuals, job seekers, or employees themselves do not directly qualify for the scheme; it is primarily intended for employers. To benefit from the scheme, employers need to demonstrate their dedication to inclusive hiring practices, creating supportive workplace environments, and offering career advancement opportunities to disabled individuals.

If you're a person with a disability seeking employment, you can look for employers who have signed up for the scheme as a positive sign of their commitment to inclusivity and diversity.

The scheme helps employers recruit and retain great people with disabilities, and:

  • Draw from the widest possible pool of talent
  • Secure high quality staff who are skilled, loyal and hard working
  • Improve employee morale and commitment
  • Demonstrate that you treat all employees fairly
